finally tracked down the '01 version of my favorite QPR cab...at $12.50 PER BOTTLE, plus shipping!!!

run, do not walk, to www.bevmo.com. they're having a sale: buy one bottle of this at regular price of $24.99 and get a second one for 5 cents!

i have two cases on the way to me now. shipping was $38 per case, making the per bottle price a mere $15.75! and if money wasn't tight and storage space wasn't an issue with me, i probably would have bought at least another two cases. i just checked their Web site and it says their current stock is 79 bottles. they also had the '01 gallo frei ranch cab for the same deal, but that's sold out.

had a bottle of the '01 gallo barrelli creek cab saturday night as the first bottle of a beef & wine orgy at fogo de chao (a brazilian steakhouse). my friends paid for dinner and i brought the wines.

man, this wine is in a great place right now. still huge youthful fruit aromas and flavors, but softening acidity and tannin. wonderful mouthfeel and a very long finish. will continue to age and i'm sure mature fruit characteristics will be kicking in very soon, but it's going to be awfully hard to keep my hands off my last four bottles. solid 92 points (came very close to giving it 93).

Remember this and also that there 'twernt none of them suckers left when I called the next day. As has been reported many times on this board Gallo single-vineyard juice be GREAT!!!!!!! WW
