Last bottle out of untold cases consumed of this champion QPR cab and it was outstanding.
No bricking with deep purple. Rich, concentrated flavors of currant, dark berry,
dark cherry, chambord and a hint of vanilla. Throwing just a tad of sediment, there are still plenty of tannins to age for who knows how long. Just a treat and, yes gonna say it, should have bought mucho cases. 13.9% Alc/vol. $6.50 by the case.

What a super job this venerable old winery did with their fruit in 97. Need to get on some of the single-vineyard stuff shortly. WW

Well we assembled at the club yesterday and decanted, filtered, and served blind were the following; 97 Barelli, 97 frei, and 97 Stefani all from the mity talented hands of Gina Gallo. If ever you had any doubt of terrior affecting the character of the grape these 3 would have flushed them down the terlit. The Barelli was still lush and fruit forward with a lush mouthfeel and the sublety of mature cab nuances in abundance. The frei was more restrained and would have passed for a mature Bordeaux with meeny fellers. The Stefani was in the middle with fruit, acid, and soft silky tannins all in balance. 9 people tasted these and we had at least 2 votes for each wines as WOTD. Frankly, as Drewskie has plaintively said so meeny times, "Wish Ida' bought more." WW

WW, Would you grant me permission to post an edited version of your note on WLDG? I want to make the case there that some Gallo wines are worthwhile for wine fanciers.

RE: 1997 Gallo Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon
The first old post pulled up and opened a bottle of the 97 Barrelli Creek. What a kick-patootie bottle of juice! For alla' youse wine snobbbies I'd love to put a bottle of this in with your high octane bottles blind. You'll get your ears pinned back.Still have a couple left so will keep stretching the open date. If you have them tho, I 'kaint see not killing them NOW!WW
