One of the last two remaining '97 Deerfields remaining in the EuroCave, served tonight with oak-grilled salmon steaks in a basil and cream sauce, baby peas and angelhair pasta. The '97 is developing a creamy texture, more like a Sancerre than a CA SB, so it paired well with the salmon sauce. But I don't expect it to last much longer, so will probably consume the last '97 in the next couple of months. Only 400 cases made, and $15.99. Deerfield has a tiny distribution, but if you stumble across their SB or Syrah, I highly recommend them.

I've not been there, but have "talked" with the owners by mail & email. Ask if they have any of their '99 Syrah left, WW. Nice juice! But they only made 200 cases. I've got two lonesome bottles left. Have not yet tried their Cab or Sangiovese.

Will report on all the wares on my return. They are slightly off the beaten path. WW
