I've been using Cellar! For Wine Enthusiasts from Collectware since Dec '99, and really enjoy it. It has a large library of tasting notes, wineries and appellations, and the basic database includes data fields for Quantity, Vintage, Winery, Appellation, Bottle Location, Type (dry red, etc.), Country, State/Region, Value, Variety, Date & Place of Purchase, Purchase Price per Bottle, Personal Tasting Notes, Bottle Size, Date Entered (by bottle), Date Removed (by bottle), scanned copy of label.. I think there's more that I've suppressed for now. You can print a summary of the cellar's contents in the form of a listing with column headings such as those I mentioned (but all can be user-defined), as well as individual pages of facts on each wine that are suitable for inclusion in a cellarbook. The package also allows the user to generate shopping lists that are based on consumed quantities, and keeps track of total quantities on hand and even current value. I went to the Website at collectware.com and downloaded a trial version, and played with it for a few days before placing an online order for the CD. It's definitely simplified the chore of tracking bottle locations by rack/bin number. (All of my racks are homemade. Some are 3'X 5' plywood arrays of diamond-shaped bins, with a cup hook at the apex of each bin holding a numbered cardboard tag; others are the same size, but of welded steel frames, bookcase style, with inserted planks as shelving and spaces marked on the shelf edges with "bin" numbers. Each rack is assigned a letter, and each bin a number, so a given wine's address is of the form "ANN", or "alpha-number-number". This software handles that convention with ease, but it can be adapted to just about any other convention.)
That's probably more than you or anyone else really wanted to know.....
