HELP CREATE A WINE AND WINERY DATABASE.

I am in the process of creating a wine and winery database. I have checked the searchable information on various websites, and have found that even major website databases leave a lot to be desired, and don't seem to be user-friendly. My goal is to consolidate as much detail as possible into a winery database and a wine database.

If you have a wine or winery database that you are willing to contribute, it would be greatly appreciated. I will send the completed database to anyone that contributes information.

This data can be sent to me in any format (MS Access, DB4, RTF, Text, etc.). If it is easier for you, the files can be zipped if you prefer. I will send it back to you in MS Access, DB4 or Text. Please specify the format you desire when you send it to me.

I currently have approximately 3,000 wineries and 2,500 UPC-coded wines in the two databases.

I know that this is a big task and no one will ever have a totally complete database. I can always try.

You can send the info to:

winefan@bellsouth.net

Thanks in advance for you help,

Jeff

Hi Fan, and welcome to the Wine Board. Have noticed that you have posted this all over the place. What do you intend to do with it? Have you checked the database at: http://www.stratsplace.com/ ?

Just wanted to add my 2 cents and say I looked up this website and especially enjoyed the audio pronunciation guide. Still being relatively new to this all,it's important to know how to pronounce the many different varieties of wines. That way when I shop for a particular wine I don't sound like a total idiot to the salesperson.

Tom 1960,
Strat's Place has some great info on it. I just don't like their database.

Jeff

Winoweenie,
If I where an entrepreneur I could think of better things to do that create a database of wines and wineries. I'm trying to pull this together for personal use and for several friends. My post was intended to collect data from individuals because the data tends to contain more accurate data than what you can find on most websites. Individuals usually keep info on wines and wineries they are interested in or wineries they have toured.
