1999 McDowell, Mendocino, Syrah ($11). Our friend Dan Berger listed the '00 as the "Bargain of the Week" in yesterday's newsletter. That reminded us that we had a couple of bottles of the '99 downstairs. So we popped one with burgers last night. It was lovely. Nice fruity wine with pleasant complexity, and just a touch of oak. This is a very consistant brand, and would highly recommend either year based on our experiance and Dan's recommendation.
