1997 Morra, Barbera d'Alba ($15.00 Is-Wine). Just about as good as it gets. Sits square on the borderline between "fresh and fruity" barbera and "big" barbera. Had already thrown some sediment, so had to be carefully decanted. Was well worth it. Very dark purply color, sweet aromas of dark jam on the nose, and delightful complexity of dark fruits on the tongue. Plenty of musty earth on the palate with silky smooth tannin that left its edge in the sediment, and a long, lingering finish. Matched perfectly with our favorite hot summer night dish; a cold deli platter and rolls.

Sadly, I do not think there is anymore 97 left at wholesaler's, and we are out. It was a big seller for us.
