I took a trip to a small town in the mountains between Trento and Asiago to have dinner with a good friend and try a peculiar wine called Clinton Passito. It had a very fruity flavor, I'd like to say gooseberries, but I don't want to try and sound like I know exactly what I'm talking about. It was a bright purple color, staining the glass and my teeth almost blue, and the intoxicating effects were rather odd. The local talk is that the wine's legality is questionable (due to a quirk in the manufacturing process) and that it "makes one crazy."

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this rather peculiar wine. (It's excellent with spinich gnocchi and grilled rabbit.)
