Much better than the great 2001 RRV...more lush, deep, complex and a longer finish, a definate case buy, IMHO. We sucked this down tonight. Paired beautifully with:

Grilled Swordfish with Mango Salsa
(Served with Sautéed Spinach and Grilled Potato Slices)

Grilled Swordfish with Mango Salsa
Swordfish Ingredients

4 swordfish steaks
Olive oil
Salt and pepper

Instructions

Grill 4 minutes on each side

Mango Salsa Ingredients
1 ripe mango, chopped
1/2 small red onion
1/2 red pepper, diced
4 tsp. cilantro or 2 frozen Cilantro Cubes(Omit if you don't like cilantro)
Juice from 1 whole lime
1 tsp. olive oil

Instructions

1.Combine and refrigerate

Sautéed Spinach Ingredients

1 TBSP. Olive oil
2 Cloves Garlic, minced.
1 lb. Spinach, stems removed
2 tomatoes, diced
10 mushrooms, sliced

Instructions

Heat olive oil, add garlic, mushrooms, spinach and then tomatoes, salt and pepper, do not over cook.

Grilled Potato Slices Ingredients

12 Potatoes - Yukon Gold sliced 1/4 inch thick
Olive oil
pinch of cayenne pepper
season to taste

Plate spinich, tomato and mushroom, place fish steak on top, spoon large spoonful of mango salsa on top of fish and ring the entire presentation with roasted potatoes.

BTW, I can download a picture of the presentation. Life is good in Ocean City.

I haven't tried the Russian River Valley version but the 2001 Castle Rock Carneros Pinot Noir is an absolute steal at $10 a bottle...I've tried Pinots at 2 to 3 times the price that can't come near it. This won't remain a little known secret for long, it you like young drinkable Pinot Noir this is definitely a case buy...

Agree on both of the Castle Rock bottlings. They are the result of the wine glut and major sell-offs of surplus juice by many premium producers. Drewsou will be kept busy over the next year, and will be grinning like a Cheshire. WW
