Little known Santa Cruz Mtn. Calif. producer. The vintner holds firmly to the 'wine is made in the vinyard' belief, & lists himself on the front label as "Vinyardist" rather than winemaker.

Dark garnet...esp. dark for pinot. Nose of raspberry/strawberry, spice, forest floor. Additional note of pencil lead in flavor. Balanced tannins/acidity. Nice medium-bodied wine.

Lots of major pinots made in them thar hills. Ken Burnap of Santa Cruz Mtn. Vineyars started amking his terrific juice in 1975. It's still alive, kicking posteriors and taking names. WW

Jerry Mead was a big fan of Ken Burnap. He touted the SCM wines on this and other boards.

I believe the price was $14-15. Acquired from the makers at their vinyard during the SCM Wineries Passport event last January.

The 2000 had also been released at that time. Also decent QPR if I remember correctly. 2001 may be available now.

P.S. Availability: likely difficult to find.
