This is a pretty solid bottle. Very clean Pinot but perhaps a touch heavy in Oak. Tasted a sample of it only that had been opened for almost 5 hours.

The only FL Pinot that has ever grabbed by attention is the lower priced Salmon Run Pinot Noir from Dr K Frank.

I liked that one too! This one is a bit on the high side at $30 clappers

Guys, if you can get your hands on Heron Hill's Reserve PN 2007, buy it.

Engineer,

That is among the best I've ever tasted in the region. 2007 was a good vintage.

2010 may be as good, if they don't screw it up!

Did a quick wine-searcher search for it...easy find. Only sold in one place right now.... the winery. Will be giving them a call in the AM.

I knew that the 07 vintage was great in the Niagara area but I didn't mentally extend that to the Finger lakes. Numnuts I am...

As for Pinot's I bought a lot of 07 Le Clos Jordanne from the Boisset/Vincor winery up in the Niagara Bench. I've yet to pop one but should try soon. I left almost all of them up in Toronto. I have a few with me only. Would be interesting to try these two side by side as their vineyard sites were so very different. One is by a lake on a slope and one is up on a Bench quite a distance away from water but both sites are probably within 50 miles of each the as the crow flies.

50 miles is quite a distance when you are talking about micro-climates.

I had forgotten that the HH Pinot Noir is available only at the winery. They don't produce an awful lot of the stuff, which is probably another reason for its quality.

I have some of their regular PN for 07, and while it is good, it isn't nearly as good as the Reserve version.

Lucky me; my wife has been working in their tasting room part time during the tourist season for two seasons now, and she gets wine at a fine discount, which I cannot disclose.
