Was looking to try something from Graves when this caught my eye. Most of the name were wholly unfamiliar but then I remembered this as being a recommendation of WW awhile back. I haven't opened it yet but will this weekend. I just hope this in fact the same wine WW recommended. If you're reading this WW, you spelled yours La Guarde, not Garde. Was it an extraneous 'u' or did we get two very different wines? I'm hoping for the former! Anyway, if they are the same, have you had the 1999 version?

This was my first experience with a red Graves wine, so wasn't sure what to expect. If it was typical, I think this style of wine really suits my tastes. The nose was mainly of new leather/cedar with blackberries underneath. After airing a bit, there came up clear blackberry flavors and rasberries coming in the end. Overall, it was a nice medium bodied wine with very nice focused flavors/aromas. I'm sure it's lighter than a lot of Bordeauxs but seemed to fit the style.

Winoweenie, did you see my message above?

WW's offline for a few, visiting his money in Lost Wages.

Hi Jackl and, yes, I just got back in town. Another case of ole Fat-Fingers striking again. To answer your question, No I didn't try the 99. The 2000 is my first encounter with this vineyard. The bigger Graves will require a lot more cellaring as they are quite muscular wines. WW
