Chateau Haut Brion

Can nyone tell me anything about Chateau Haut Brion 1943? Is it still drinkable? Was it a good vintage year? I know that 1945 was considered to be a brilliant year for Bordeaux and especially Haut Brion, but I can't seem to find any info on 1943.

1943 was one of the best vintages for red Bordeaux of the 40s, overshadowed by the tremendous 1945 vintage.

Bottles of first growths from that year sell for $600+. You may have a rare old jewel, assuming proper storage.

Thanks for the info! Has it reached maturity in as far as drinking is concerned or could it use a few more years in the cellar?

I'm no Bordeaux expert, but I think it's about as mature as it's gonna get, again assuming proper storage as Bucko mentioned. To paraphrase Winoweenie, find a significant other, a good meal, pop open the lil' sucker, and see what happens. [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/biggrin.gif[/img]
