'97 Stonehedge Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

Popped this tonight with Filet Mignon, baked spuds and a hugh salad with stilton.

Dark black ruby, not quite opaque. Muted nose of mature plum, oak and a little shoe polish. Like flavors of ripe plum, vanilla and a little dark chocolate and anise. Tannins kick in mid palate to the medium length finish. This wine got a lot of hype and I decanted for 1 1/2 hours but never opened. Sipped now for over 3 hours and much the same except the wine grew somewhat sweeter. It's reputation is spoiled, IMHO, 14.2%Alc/vol. $21

Popped this dude for my Birthday yesterday and WoW [img]http://wines.com/ubb/eek.gif[/img] beautiful. Concentrated dark fruit and currant flavors with a touch of cocoa. Silky tannins, viscous and a very long finish. Wonderful wine and I even let Eileen have half of the bottle. Nice end to a nice day.
