96 Gallo Frei & 95 Gallo Stefani

Any opinions on these two cabs? I saw them in a gourmet grocery store and was curious. I believe they were both selling for $20 bucks.

Rags, As stated many times on this board, IMHO, the Frei, Stephani, and Barillo are outstanding P?Q wines and compare favorably to wines selling for awhale of a lot more. Haven't had the 96 Frei yet but every bottle I've had from this stellar vineyard (See 92 Tasting Notes ) has been a knockout. I've a case in the cellar of each even as we " board " . WW

I am always impressed by the QPR of Gallo's wines, but I wanted some opinions on the two listed wines/vineyard for their perspective vintages. At 20 bucks a bottle, I was wondering how many I should be buying....

Got it! It doesn't look like they are selling out any time soon, so I'll probably wander back to the store this coming week. I have over 200 bottles of wine stored right now and am trying to figure if I want to add these two Gallos to the pile. I'm filling out my Coffaro futures form and can't believe how much I have been spending on wine this past year!!!

One of the local wine stores closing out their '95 Gallo Stefani Cab at $9.99 per, 4 bottles per customer. Wish I could have gotten more. I called my 2 college buddies and told them to go pick up their allotment, we'll have a case to take to our reunion.
