Gosh Drew, I don't have a clue what to say here other than what everyone else has. Life just isn't fair sometimes. Our thoughts are with you once again.

Death is hard to handle when you are expecting it, and much worse when you are not. Hopefully he is in a better place.

Thank you all for your replies, this has been so difficult and unexpected. As a family, The Wine Board, I feel that I'm reaching for answers. Eileen is at the lowest I've ever seen her. The task of sorting for memorabila, organizing and selling the property is overwhelming. She has no other immediate relatives. I thought law enforcement was tough...that was and is a cake walk compared to this task. It's kinda funny, we've been eating and drinking less, drawn closer to each other but the pain and stress is significant. Wow, life is interesting. BTW, I sampled the Joel Gott 2005 815 Cab the other day and it was just average for $18, Gosh I'm rambling and don't mean to. Here's a solid piece of advice. Please ensure that you, and your family, have a will. Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes...it means so much and is truly treasured.

Drew

I feel for you, Drew, and wish you the best. I'm going through a similar situation with Carole's dad. They are a very close family and her dad is slowly dying of leukemia. It is taking a toll on her, especially since she is a physician and cannot save him. It is hard on me to watch her suffer, so I know exactly how you feel about your wife. A toast to brighter days...

You know Drew, sometimes life just stinks. No higher reason for it. Just plain stinks. I know where you are coming from looking for answers. My wifes sister is 40 and just yesterday was told she has a 1% chance of surviving her cancer. It looks like months rather than years. I know what's coming for my wife and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it. I do know that sooner rather than later, I too will be posting here with sad news. I hope I can maintain as you are for Eileen.

Drew, you and your wife have a special place in my heart...... I am at a loss on how I can adequately express my condolences to you both.

I know my response to your troubles is a bit late in time, but hopefully not in meaning. My wife and I will be sure to include you and your wife in our prayers.

Not too long ago, we were both in San Antonio, Texas and we visted one of the missions there - San Jose. I made it a point to light some candles for those who are no longer in our lives, included were additional candles for those we did not know - your mother-in-law and your brother-in-law were among them -

Thank you Mike and thanks to all for such heartfelt responses. These two incidents in the last five months have knocked the wind out of both of us and have certainly changed my perspective on life, particularly in the cat department. We had 1, now we have 4 , after adopting their cats.

Drew
