I was just given a Recolte 1986 Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de Las Cases Saint-Julien.

I would love to know more on the history of this wine as well as when this bottle peaks.

Thanks,

Ridge Rees

Hi RR and welcome to the board. From your description of the wine I'm led to believe this is the Clos du Mrrquis which is the 2nd wine of Ch. Leoville Las Cases. The 86 vintage of both wines were spectacular and with proper storage, the Marquis should be approaching maturity while the regular Leoville can continue to improve for another 10-20 years. Hope this helps. WW (Forgot to mention that Leoville is classified as a second growth but since the early 80s' many experts(?) believe it should be elevated to a 1st. growth)
