So I know there are 10,000 answers to this, but I am so new to wine, and I am hoping to sort this out before dinner.

The Meal:
Grilled New York Strip Steak
Steamed Green Beans w/ Herbed Butter
Saffron Rice

Dessert:
Creme Caramel

Now I know that there are so many factors to go with wine, and meals it is served with... And I can appreciate this (I'm cooking the dinner). However my wife wants wine with dinner and I have no clue. I promise that in the future I will learn more, but I need a quick fix if anyone can help.
About me and her... Wine Novices! We won't know good from bad, but I want to learn. All that I know from my expericnce with spirits is that I have disliked a dry mouthfeel in other drinks (told the result of a chemical called "tannin" (Spelling?)). But I do enjoy certain Cognacs.

Help if you can.

JR

Hi Live, and welcome to the Wine Board. Run out and get a Columbia Crest Grand Estate Merlot, and you be happy. If it was me I would get their Cabernet Sauvignon.

Current vintage/release, i.e. what you find in the store.
