Okay so tonight I sit before my computer and am reading all the comments on this wine board along with paying some attention to my e-mail and my home page.

I start with the Maison LaMartine Beaujolais Nouveau and then the GD Flower Label Beaujolais Nouveau and then I open a bottle of Virginian Wine.

Oasis Vineyards Meritage, a combination of cab savage, cab franc and merlot. I pop the cork, pour vigorously and sniff.

It is then that I found out that my senses have been ruined by the lighter wines. Cuz this stuff sucks............

No fruit and just a taste of number two pencil on the back of the tongue.

Then I let it sit for a while, and I give it good swirl and as if by magic....... dark cherry and plums, velvet feel in the mouth and lots of finish with some really tremendous tannins. This local wine is deep ruby in color, very clear and just might be worth a cellar for a few years - maybe 3 to 5 (per the winemaker).

Heavy mouth feel and maybe just a bit hot, but a velvety finish; this is a tongue lapper for sure. I think I've mentioned it before....... 1/3 Cab Sav, 1/3 Cab Franc, and 1/3 Merlot. All local and all from the same grower.

I'm here to tell you, Virginia Wine is worth trying.

Name again: Oasis Meritage (I have to keep looking at the screen two or three times to make sure I'm making sense........) (WW, you'd understand, would you not!)

And (sorry Bucko) there is a bit of vanilla behind the heat, cuz this stuff was aged in oak barrels. But with reds, that is not such a bad thing. (I just, still, can't really handle the oak with the whites.)

Good for you. I can't quaff, think, write, and spell at the same time. Of course sometimes can't do them separately either.
