I found a bottle of wine in my father-in-law's basement. On the label it's called - Armagnac, Hors d' Age, Sire De Gajan.

In small letters it says - appellation Armagnac controle'e.

In caps it says - LANNEPAX.GERS.FRANCE. On the side is 42 (degree symbol).

It has a combination seal - wax and lead. The lead portion has a shield with a standing lion ? and on the back of the lead seal is stamped Phillbert. The lead seal has a tab that threads through the other end to close the seal.

I know it is at least as old as WWII. The bottle doesn't sit straight because of the shape of the bottom, and has score like marks on it. The bottle is dark green in color and the wine is red in color.

Thanks for the help !!!

Similar to Cognac -- no collector's value.
