1999 Tobin James, Desperado, Paso Robles, Cabernet Franc ($28). Came in the Spring '02 shipment. This was my first HUGE cabernet franc. Weighed in at 14.9% alcohol. It showed the regular franc anomaly, producing both cherries and blackberries on the nose and up front. Then it was like a windtunnel, with gobs of additional fruit, acidity, alcohol, and chewy tannin across the palate, and a lingering finish. It was not hot, despite all that was said.

Matched with broiled fillet steak with mesquite seasoning, and salad. Very nice. That was it for the '99 vintage. Look for other vintages in the future.
