2001 Domaine Les Pallieres Gigondas

A disappointing bottle. Nice nose of sweet cherries and a bit of woodsiness, but from opening to 3 hours in the decanter, the flavors were muted and bland. Fairly tannic initially, but merely thin by the end of the evening. A bit of cherry and earth and chocolate, but just not a lot. Possibly a weird phase, possibly just an off bottle, possibily just a poor wine. My only bottle, so I guess I'll never know. Was hoping for sometihng very nice. Ah well...
