A great wine. Black cherry, pepper and leather throughout, nice tannins, a finish that lasts forever particularly on the back palate (at least 30 seconds). Definitely not closed, but it felt like it could be even more expressive, maybe with a couple of more years. It breathed for an hour or two, but it seemed like it could take more. Perfect: tastes great now, seems like it can do even better in the future - I like having wines like this in the cellar. According to my notes at the time I paid $32 in 2004, but I don't remember where. 13%. I have four more bottles, I will be looking forward to them, but I will take my time. This wine seems like a very good case in point for somebody's comparison between the northern Rhone's "dark brooders" and Australia's "exotic dancers."

Well, 18 months did it. If you have any of this, now is a great time to open it. Fabulous.
