I did the SB tastings a few weeks ago from Great Wine Made Simple. Just to sum up my notes, I really liked the 2001 Pascal Jolivet Sancerre. Nice tangy, lively aroma of flowers and white pepper and grass and stone, and plenty of tongue-squeezing acid to boot. Lean with earthy and herbal notes.

The other two I tasted were not great. 2001 Mondavi Private Selection North Coast was a bit on the flabby side, and the 2001 Villa Maria (I already posted about this once) had what I found to be dirty aromas and tastes.

This is not a criticism, my wife has one too; but you seem to be developing a European palate.

I think you're right. Drinking French wine for a year got my tongue used to subtlety. It's hard to readjust to higher-alcohol wines that seem to explode in your mouth. On the other hand, if it pairs better with the food, then I don't mind a New World bottling at all.

Stay with it joeyz, that's the attitude I appreciate.
