You should be able to find an Australian Sparkling Shiraz, if not your exact one, in most parts of this country. There are not a lot of sparkling reds made in this country. We do have Brut Rose's and Blanc De Noirs, but these are pink, and you really don't want to replace your dinner beer with sparkling wine. It is almost as fattening. You should investigate table wine, i.e. still red, white, and rose' wine. A good brand to get started with is Sutter Home. They put out the original (or close to it) White Zinfandel. They also have a line of reds intended for people who want to be weaned off White Zinfandel. These reds are ever so slightly off dry. When you find one you like, try other (drier) brands of the grape/wine you like. At the same time you can start experimenting with white wines. Both Chile and Argentina bottle a variety of reds and whites in both regular (750 ml) bottles, and the larger 1.5 l bottles. These are great for the beginner to keep in the fridge for a glass or two with dinner, as well as to use in cooking.
