Nice post, and sounds like a neat wine. It's nice to see more and more domestic folks experimenting with one of my favorite grapes. Abacela in Oregon has been something of a standard bearer for it in the States, but some other folks have been bottling it recently in Cali, and we discovered that there has been some tinkering with it in Washington while we visited there this past summer. In the next year or so, there will likely be one or two Walla Walla producers putting some Tempranillo in bottles. I'll be excited to try them. I'm going to check out the Santa Cruz Mtn mailing list, too. If I'm not mistaken, don't they also do a Pinot Noir? Also, isn't it a student-driven project?
