make this hardened old tongue salivate? Looks like I'll partially vacate my sabattical Sat as it's been 2 weeks and the needed repairs to the vitals seem to be complete plus I'm broiling some free-range New Zealand filets and I'd cry to have these suckers with H2O. Anywhoos, happy Memmy to all! WW

Haven't decided yet. I'll pick some stuff out before we leave for the boat in about an hour. Let you know when we get back sometime Monday.

She wants me to cook burgers sometime this weekend, so will probably use a Becker Vineyards' Prairie Rotie for that. But also want to try the '04 Leoville-Barton to see if further investment is warranted.... that will need steaks.

Will work around and through t-storms, expected to give us 6"-8" by Monday. (No problem.... straw hat works well as a brolly and will cook with the pit closed.)

Went to my brother's last night for filets on the grill and i took four '01s: S. Anderson Stags Leap District Claret, Beringer Knights Valley Cab, Gallo Sonoma Barrelli Creek Cab, and Marquis Philips Mclaren Vale S-2 Cab. All were very good to excellent, with the good old Barrelli Creek being the biggest hit of the night. Also took a bottle of '02 Penfolds St. Henri Shiraz but it was off. Grrr...

Happy Memorial Day to all, and my sincerest thanks to all you veterans. Going to dinner with some folks Tuesday night and we're all bringing zins. Will report back.

BRW, his lovely CB, Daughter, her friend and another couple joined us for lunch yesterday at our favorite Chinese restaurant. Took the Loring 03 Garys and Clos Pepe and Sea Smokes 02 Botella and Southing. The food, wine and company were all superb. Lovely Sunday. Life is good! WW

I was flying back from Nebraska yesterday and didn't open any wine. I canceled my dinner reservation at a Brazilian Steakhouse in Raleigh--decided I didn't want to drive back to Fayetteville later that evening so will probably reschedule the dinner for sometime in June or July. One of the wines they offer by the glass is from Brazil (and several from Argentina) so it will be interesting to try sometime. I tried shipping two bottles of wine to Nebraska as cargo in the airplane but only one made it--got a short note saying that the other broke in transit.

Was that note written before or after they finished the bottle.....I'm sure the bottle broke but the wine may not have been in it by then......

That thought occurred to me to Eng, but it probably did break in transit. Tomorrow off to Finger Lakes. Sure wish we could take liquids into the plane cabin as my wines are very likely to get "cooked" in the 90+ heat we are having in North Carolina. I will see if I can check them in as cargo at time of boarding so that they aren't on the runway for long.
