Nose is very straight forward of fruit. Taste of good fruit/green apple, mineral, slate, and a good level of acidity. Acidity was rather tart even in the Spatlese, very different than the 2003's. Nicely balanced.

Perhaps just starting to close up?

Bottle took time to open up but the fruit is slightly receding. Second bottle is very nice still with lots of slate and minerality, some citrus notes and a bit of petrol. Still very fresh and nervy with all that acidity so a bit short on the finish but clean, crisp and balanced.

Wine is coming back?? Notes are the same as the first bottle. Nice juice, great acidity and very refreshing. Very pretty pale straw color with a hint of green too!!

Nice to have enough bottles to try over time. I had my first Scharzhofberg last year and was impressed with it.

This wine should come into its own in a couple of years. I have the Oberemmeler Hütte, which takes a little longer to come around than the Scharzhofberg. I'll probably wait another 4 years to open one.
