30 Brora, Highland Park Thor and Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix

This was a nice lineup.... someone has to treat me right.

First up was teh Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix, lovely as aways, just the right combo between old and new whisky's a bit of grace, a bit of vibrancy...but a bit out of its league today with its palty 46% alcohol....

Second up was the Highland Park Thor, limited (??) to 20,0000 bottles... Cask strength, man this baby was large, big and brash up front, lost of citrus and power, a bit of banana and coconut, but mostly you notice the power A bit of water opens it up a bit but takes away from the size of the dram,

30 Brora, Had this last, this thing is magnificant. Wow, cask strength and certinaly showing the power but it was teh softer supple, elegant entry but holding all the power of a cask strength. Impressive but only issues is teh $350+ a bottle price to find one of these.

Love the fact that whilst away the mity ENG hasn't forgot hims degree in tipin' 101 by the Weener. Love the Highland Park. Also the 18 'haint gots no flies buzzin round it. Hotsie seems to have the mother lode of these beauties. WW

Haven't had any of these but they do sound nice. Having a wee tot of Dewar's 12 y/o at the moment, awaiting a shipment from bonny Scotland.

That Brora is near impossible to get. Much easier to get the 14 yo Clynelish from right across the street. One of my top five.

KC, I had an opportunity to pick one up and declined...in the UK it is much more expensive still. I picked up another of Diageo's special bottlings this year which was a unique one. It was Port Dundas's 21 y.o. GRAIN whisky. Got it at Harrods one night as there was still a couple of bottles so now have three of this year's list including the 21 y.o. Rosebank and the 32 Port ellen... Tried a dram of the 12 red breast too...lovely bottle!!!
