1997 Chateau D'Yquem

My contribution to a tasting one night. This is by far the youngest looking bottle of 97 I've seen. It was still pale straw in color.

Wonderful nose, superlight, honey, apricot, super structured, grea acidity. It was so young,....at 13 years, this is sstill a baby.

TE, I had that wine before and recall your notes spot on. Tasty sucker that I almost had to go hide out in the bushes.

Pre-Valentine's day dinner and took advantage to pull a demi of this out to share. Crisps this thing will be eternal. No movement AT ALL. Lovely stuff really, tastes like in no way a 16 year old bottle.

Back in 2000, I was fortunate to have an exceptional D'Yquem. A friend who was a manager at another wine shop called me up to come over. He said his shop was closing and he wanted me to share a special wine with him. So he opened up a bottle of 1928 D'Yquem. It was a rather dark brown color, but it was still awesome!! I'll never forget that experience.

1928....wow. I don't think I'll see the likes of that any time soon. I try to buy a few at auction every year but generally miss out as either its a case buy and I can't afford that or the price is so high I can't afford that!
