My New Year's Eve beverage. I did not get to the Cockburn's Ruby Port or a Mcguigan tawny from Australia--some other time.

The Cockburn 10-year Tawny Port
Bottled in 2005. 20% alcohol by volume

Color is between burnt orange and amber. I decanted part of the bottle on New Year's Eve and sipped it from a small liqueur glass. Flavors of dried apricot, prune and hazelnut with a bit of caramel. Something strange on the nose initially but it evaporated with time and air. Somewhat drier than other Tawnies I've had and I prefer the drier type. Holding steady after four days recorked and left on the sideboard. Hope to finish the bottle this week.

Happy New Year to all!

Happy New Year from the both of us!

We love tawny ports, but haven't had this one yet. Will look for it, and thanks for the note!

A person that works with me at work just gave me a bottle of Ferriera Tawny Port which he just brought back form Portugal. Gonna pop soon! It's been about a year since I've popped an entire bottle of tawny......

Eng,
Did you ever get around to opening the Tawny Port? How was it? I think I sampled some Ferreira at a Port tasting in Charlotte almost two years ago.

Unfortunately no. With my job, I just keep traveling and hoping one day to go home. Then when I get there, I try to dig something up that I can consume. I'm still looking out for it though. It's at the top of my port stack
