1994 Warres Vintage Port

as I love Port and this product seemed perfect for using on newer vintage ports. I tried it last night on a bottle of 1994 Warres Vintage Port and had this result: I decanted the wine and used the Clef Du Vin for 10 seconds in my glass with great results then I decided to use the Clef Du Vin in the decanter for 50 seconds as I figured there were 5 glasses left in the decanter and 10 seconds per glass seemed to work well before (so I thought). At 50 seconds the remaining wine in the decanter tasted spoiled. My question is: Is there anyone who has experienced this and is there anything I can do to save the remaining wine. I have as yet not been able to get in touch with Clef du Vin.

In my opinion, and I know others share it, this is another one of those devices that are close to being labelled a hoax. Another such device is the Perfect Sommelier, which claims to age your wine to perfection in 30 seconds through the use of magnets. Hmmm. Anyway, if you are to believe the Clef du Vin hype, one second's insertion is the equivalent of one year's aging. So, you inserted it for fifty seconds, which would mean you aged it for fifty years. Since the bottle was already opened and being subject to oxidation, it would seem that you left an opened bottle for fifty years and then tried it again. An opened bottle of port is good for maybe a week, at best.

If you can't wait to drink a wine when it is ready, move to another wine--those products that make claims for aging wine and whatever are complete bull!
