Another Halloween porch wine. Decanted about 30 minutes before pouring, as some sediment was present.

Color was a bit pale for a zin, somewhat clearer than ruby, almost like a light pinot noir. Hot nose, with a little cherry pie that followed on the entry. Short, oaky finish, and the whole thing tasted hot. A whopping 16.2% alc. We were disappointed with this.

Received as a gift, but imagine that it couldn't be much more than, say, $18-20. Don't think the bottle was bad, it was solidly corked, etc., so I can't explain it. I won't look for it myself, though.

Dananne--sounds interesting, if oaky....and it looks like you've reported on no fewer than four wines consumed on Halloween!! After all that wine, how could you tell the ghosts from the goblins?

Yes, we did some light entertaining on the porch, though the concept of moderate consumption seemed to be a touch lacking. It turned into some bizarre wine tasting event, though we forgot one important detail -- a place to spit

In short, we consumed a bit too much, so if I hadn't been able to tell the ghosts from goblins that night, I certainly could the following morning. I was white as a sheet and felt as if I had left my corporeal form.
