Congratulate me! I have been able to gradually wean my wife away from "white zin" and this is the baby that did it. (And then chastize me for my poor typing - MONTEVINA - it should be, not Montevino...... oops!)

This medium bodied Zin (only 12.9% alcohol) is a fruity dry wine that almost makes one think it is sweet. The winery touts it as a zin made in the style of a beaujolais.

Not really my kind of zin, but the better half likes it and that is what counts.

This stuff also helped me introduce her to the world of wines from the Rhone and similar wines from OZ and California.

So now she is also starting to enjoy Bonny Doon Ca del Sol Big House Red, Cline Cotes d'Oakley, Rosemont GSM, Bernard CdRV, Parallel 45 CdR and such.

All because of a silly bottle of wine with a cheap see-thru plastic label from a place owned by Sutter Home (which I tend to stray away from).....

However, if it gets my wife onto the red band wagon and off of the SW train, then I'll become a very happy camper, indeed.

Now I just gotta find a bottle of the somewhat more serious Zin that Montevino bottles. The one that IK was talking about!

Congratulations. Glad you're getting your better half to go to the reds. My problem is just the opposite. She won't agree to a summer quaffer (read SW). So that's way it goes.
