2002 Abundance Mencarini Old Vines Lodi

This wine has taken the place of the Peachy Canyon Eastside in my $13 zin slot. Where as the Peachy got heavy and lost all of it's brightness in 02, the Abundance has it all. Raspberry and spice while retaining a nice mouthfeel and even a decent little finish. I bought one bottle as a test and will get more on my next trip to the shop.

Their Merlot is pretty darned tasty as well:

2002 Abundance Vineyards, Merlot, Mencarini Vineyards, California, $14. The bouquet is a mélange of lovely aromas – black cherries, plums, toasty oak and floral notes. Full on the palate, the tannins have been well managed and the brisk acids give the lush fruit pizzazz. Blueberries become evident on the finish. A real crowd pleaser; 90/92.
