What a kick-patootie bottle of zin. Had it a lunch today with sliced beef, carmelized onions, and fresh greens, preceeded by a plate of fresh sliced tomatoes, crumbled Stilton, Balsimic , and VOO. This bottle was absolutety stunning with every bite of each plate but added to the enjoyment of the food.I was stunned after finishing it that the alc was a whopping 16.6%!!!! Found no heat at all so the tremendous fruit and balance must negate this whopping alc. This has been a source of some of the greatest wine in my drinking experience. Tankke Louis for planting this mnarvelous vineyard (even berfore I wuz borned). Martini has made some memorable from this Sonoma masterpiece. 93/90 39 by the box. 16.6% alc. WW

I am amazed and impressed to hear that you couldn't feel the 16.6 alchy. Sounds like a treat.

Corked a bottle of this tonight and it was wonderful. No heat, just deeply concentrated fruit full of black peppery, brambly blackberry, and chocolate with a long Zin finish. Great wine.

Tannins are still gripping. I think it could go another couple years and will sit on my single remaining bottle until next summer to see what happens.

As you may or not know, I'm a strong believer in the ageability of big balanced Zins which isn't the mainstream thinking. I've had 10-15 year old zins that were absolutely killer. WW

Me too, in fact I just posted recently on the 1991 Teldeschi we had last week. Some can really go the distance, but you have to be careful because many just don't make it into adulthood.
