There's oak, and then there's OAK...TIMBERRRRR! Very dark in the glass but not opaque. Nose of OAK, flavors of OAK, where's the fruit? Very astringent on the entry and an offputting midpalate bitterness. The oak was so overwhelming and never subsided over the course of 6 hours. Food pairing? Sauteed termites with field saplings might match well. 15.1%Alc/vol. 16$

We finished the last of the case of the 97 Old Vine last week. I think that about does it for us with St. Francis. Some oak is nice, but.....
