Had a bottle of Ken Burnap's 1993 "California" Merlot...committed "statutory grape." Burnap doesn't make anything wimpy, and this one is 90% Merlot (San Ysidro and Bates Ranch) and 10% Santa Cruz Cab. Big amazingly youthful plum and black cherry fruit. On the one hand youthful fruit...on the other the bottle interior is already crusting!!! The wine was lovely, but mis-matched (to big for) the grilled salmon with which it was served. Drat! No cheese tonight.

I'm a moderator and trying to keep it clean...been so long since I've used anything but profanity to express myself that "drat" is what comes out.
