($16) blackish, going to purple at rim; opaque. blackberry dominates the very good nose, joined by plum and a hint of vanilla. flavors echo the nose, with the addition of black pepper. VG concentration, but not close to that of the '01. the '03 is a round wine, with little acidity and even less tannin. drink young. 88 points.
