1996 Plantagenet, Sauvignon Blanc, Mount Barker - What is it with Sauvignon Blanc and the Southern Hemisphere? It seems like all of the SBs I've tried from South Africa, Australia, or New Zealand are
really good. Most of the producers don't attempt to make a Chardonnay with their Sauvignon, instead letting the natural flavors come through. Well, here's another good one. Crisp, clean, grapefruit nose, with hints of pear, some light herbal/cat pee aromas, and light jalapeño/bellpepper notes. Very nice grapefruit flavors in the mouth, with herbal, jalapeño/bell pepper notes. A bargain at the normal $10 price, even better at $4.99 from the bargain bin. Approx..88-89.
