Anyone familiar with Sarah's Blend? I think it may come from MacLaren. This was open for a Saturday tasting at my usual wine shop and I let my chance to purchase it go by. It's been so popular that they sold out what was in stock.

Hi WOW. I think this is in their Classic McClaren series. I've tried the " La Testa " and the " Reserve " (both at around 50-60 ) If it's in this price range this is probably it. By-the-By, both of the above are outstanding. WW

Thanks for the replies. I think it was well below the $50 price so may not be in the classic series. Will have to wait and see if it is offered next vintage.

Sarah's Blend is one of four Marquis-Phillips wines. Sparky and Sarah Marquis make the wine in a venture with Dan Phillips of Grateful Palate. Sparky and Sarah are two of the top winemakers in Australia. They made Fox Creek up to 1998 and they are now making Henry's Drive and the new Marquis-Phillips wines.

M-P also made Shiraz, Cab and Merlot. Sarah's is a blen of the above and my favorite of the lot. They were an incredible bargain at about $15. The 2001s should be arriving fairly soon. DO NOT MISS THEM!!!! Stupendous bargains.

Thank you, Jock. Your answer is making a lot of sense because the wine shop in Raleigh had a visit from Sparky Marquis or a representative of his wines. Don't know where I got it mixed up with MacLaren. I hope they will have the 2001 Sarah's Blend soon and I will not hold off on purchasing next time.

WOW. Don't shortchange the other M-P wines. They were all superb. I haven't tasted the 2001s but Sparky says they are even better than the 2000s.

Sparky is a member of the "stain your teeth" super-ripe, super-extract group headed by the one-and-only RP. If you like that style you'll be in hog heaven.

Well, apparently I like that style with the Aussie wines. I think it's carried too far sometimes with zinfandels. I'm sampling various zinfandels currently to see which ones are made in the style I like.
