I just tried a glass of Lindemans Cawarra Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon and LOVED it. Almost-but-not-quite-dry wine, slightly tart after taste with a mild oak flavor. Can you recommend other wines like this so I can compare? I know a better shiraz is out there and I want to try it. I've never had this before and, to coin a technical phrase, it's YUMMY : )

Thanks

Buckeley's is another good Shiraz for the money, for under $10, and I would also suggest looking into wines from Paso Robles. Their EOS Petite Sirah was was the highlite of a tasting I attended over 6 months ago, and their Cab and their Zin were very good as well, all for near or under $20 a bottle.

mthistle, welcome. The '98 Penfords 389, Cab-Shiraz blend, was just released and is always a crowd pleaser for about $25. Penfolds Koonunga Hill Cab-Shiraz is GREAT for $10 and is the QPR king. As for Oz blends try the '98 Greg Norman Cab-Merlot, $15...’tis a very elegant and food friendly wine. For Siraz only I like Pirramimma, any year, (My fav) $18, Jacobs Creek Reserve $15, '98 Greg Norman Limestone Coast $16, ADW "Alliance" (Australian Domaine Wines)$20, Rosemount Diamond label $10, Rosemount "Hill of Gold" Shiraz $16, Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz $8 here, '98 Peter Lehmann "The Barossa" Shiraz and their Cabernet is worth hunting down for $18, '98 Banrock Station Shiraz for $7 is very nice (the '99 vintage is thin and watery), Chain of Ponds Shiraz is good, but pricey at $30. These should keep you smiling for a while.

While you are at it, discovering all the wonderful wines from Oz, look-up these guys:

Rosemount GSM (Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre) (The CDP of OZ kinda sorta)

Wolf Blass President Select Grenache

Wolf Blass Cabernet/Shiraz
