The first was Laughing Jack. I believe it was 2000, but I left the bottle at the dinner party. Very different style. I have had it once before and loved it. This time not so much. Maybe I was just thrown the first time due to it's intensity. Huge amount of spice, tar, and tobacco. Very unique. A must try, but not a necessary "try again" at $27. The second was a 2000 St. Hallett Faith Shiraz. Perfect balance of spice and fruit without overpowering the pallet. A better value to me at $20.

Haven't tried the Laughing Jack but do agree on the St. Hallett. Very balanced and elequent shiraz.
