With eggplant parmesan. Bright raspberry color, fruity nose of red & black fruits. Bright fruit on the palate, lingering to a wonderful finish. 13.5% alc/ vol and about $30 at Costco. Worth every penny.

Not sure, but is Il Colle one of the Brunello producers indicted for adulterating their wine?? Bis scandal!! They've also indicted a number of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo producers.

Haven't heard that Il Colle was swept up in that scandal. Judging from the wine, doubt that they're involved.

Did some checking and it appears there are four wineries involved - Argiano, Castelgiocando, Pian delle Vigne and Castello Banfi.

The story is the cops impounded all their 2003 and subsequent vintages because they found other than Sangiovese in their vineyards. The producers are saying the other grapes are for their IGT wines, not the Brunellos. So, now the US Gov't (the TTB) is saying that no Brunellos can come into the US without laboratory certification that the wines are 100% Sangiovese.
