Deep clear crimson garnet. Fruity nose of plum, clove, tar, and a touch of cinnamon. Medium bodied: a bit hollow mid-palate, with a nice streak of acidity, pleasant tannins, and some leather, tobacco, tar, and pepper on the finish. Nice wine with food; paired well with spaghetti with tomato and meat sauce, and handled the baby spinich salad with mushroom and balsamic vinaigrette with aplomb. Wife absolutely loved it. WS ranks it an 87, and says its $20; received as a gift from friends from Italy, so don't know actual cost. 12,000 cases. 89/89
