Could some one tell me a wine that can be substituted for marsala in receipes.

Hi Rich, and welcome to the Wine Board. The answer in my humble opinion is nope. That is not unless you want the dish to taste like something else. It's like asking, what other jelly goes with turkey besides cranberry.

I generally agree with IK, especially if you are creating a dish the recipe of which calls for Marsala, ie, veal scallopini Marsala. But if you are creating a dish and seek for the sauce a fortified wine with a little sweetness, there is always Madeira or sherry or Port, each of which will of course add its own flavor characteristics.
