Italian Wine Found in Granny's Stash (more)

I recently obtained a bottle of wine from my grandmother. The wine is labled as follows.

Barolo

Vendemmia 1984

Gilardino

I have found references to Barolo as a peidmeont producer but I can find nothing on GILARDINO as a style (if it is)

Can anyone help.

G.M.C.
Castelnuovo Belbo
Asti -Italia

Still no idea what GILARDINO is/means.

Gilardino is not ringing any bells and can not find it in any book. Perhaps a propreitary name that they used.

Jason is likely correct, but the G in GMC might be the Gilardino fellow.
