2002 Dobbes Family Estate "Skipper's Cuvee" Pinot Noir

I never know whether to put Oregon Pinot Noir in this folder or the one for Northwest wines . . .

This is from the S. Oregon Rogue Valley, a warmer region than Willamette. Generally, other varietals are favored there, but this one shows that PN can be successful. We tasted this and through the rest of the Dobbes lineup when we were out there last summer before the offline, and it was a different Dobbes bottle that we brought to dinner on the first night of the offline. In general, we just loved the Dobbes Pinot Noirs, and found them to be great P/Q, also.

Decanted 30 minutes before pouring. Color between ruby and garnet. Juicy black cherry nose with red spices. Wonderful Pinot texture that carries the spicy cherry fruit and some coffee and toffee notes on a lingering finish. Nice acidity. Alc. 13.5%. Paid $26 for it. FWIW, WE gave it an 88.
