Comparing two Cote de Nuits-Villages wines

2002 GILLES-JOURDAN COTE DE NUITS-VILLAGES "LA ROBIGNOTTE" (a monopole or monopoly)
(Cote de Nuits-Village come from the Nuits-St-Georges area of Burgundy, France)
13.5% alcohol
Dark ruby color--scarlet with violet overtones and some transparency. Perfumed nose of bruised cherries, violets, and plumskins. Very smooth--great balance. Best the first two evenings. Imported by Turner Wine Imports, Morrisville, NC. Purchased from Carolina Wine Company.

2000 JAYER-GILLES COTE DE NUITS-VILLAGES
Slightly lighter ruby color than the CdNV from Gilles-Jourdan. Some viscosity. Shows grip. Boysenberries and dark cherries on the nose and flavor palette and palate. Not as aromatic as the 2002 Gilles-Jourdan CdNV.
Possibly in a slumberous state. Still quite nice but the 2002 wine gets the preference here. (One critic found the Gilles-Jourdan to surpass all other CdNV for the vintage.)

Would you happen to know prices for either?

I haven't popped an '00 from anywhere in Burgundy that seems awake lately. The '99s have come out to play, though. And, we may have discussed it on another thread, but it doesn't appear that the '02s ever went to sleep.

Finally, I don't know if you saw a recent thread on a Patricia Green that we tried, but Anne and I both thought you'd love it.

I would have to agree WW. In a not so long ago (or at least it felt that way) Pommard vertical (Compte Armand), the 99 was showing the best, followed by the 2002. The 2000's were sound asleep and the 2001's were not showing well. I'm still going at the 2002's and they are not slowing down any.

I've been paying $25 to $30 for the "La Robignotte." The Jayer-Gilles I got a special price on (about $30 I think)--it is generally more than that. The '99 Burgundies have stayed alive. I don't have many from 2000 but will let those I have rest awhile based on this result. I have a 2001 Morey-St-Denis "Les Millandes" I'm eager to open but will give it another year or two probably.
