Another weekend excursion to Enoteca Vin in Raleigh for specials on 3-oz. pours of Burgundy at $15, $10 or $5 a pour. (I was in Raleigh anyway to pick up some wines previously ordered.)
They had sold out of the 1998 Raphet Clos de Beze Grand Cru but I did get to taste the

1998 FOURRIER GRIOTTES-CHAMBERTIN V.V. $15 taste
Garnet color in dim lighting, semi-transparent. Cherries on the nose. Mashed cherry flavor on the borderline of tasting either sweet or sour. Silky texture. Some depth. Full bodied for a Burgundy. Long finish with some pepper accent. Savory accent (or was that from the boar meat Bolognese gnocchi I had with the wines.)

1998 BARTHOD CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY FUEES (Premier Cru pour at $10)
Nose a bit more muted but still in the cherry family--similar muted flavor. Something about it made me think of sucking on a cherry fruit ball (hard candy.) A slight drying grip. A paler cousin to the Grand Cru Burgundy from the same vintage.

2002 DIGIOIA-ROYER CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY "GROSEILLES" Premier Cru ($10)
Has to a lesser degree the flowery component I loved in a village Chambolle-Musigny from this house. Overall very pleasing and would be a worthwhile buy if I could find a bottle.
